PRIMARY TO LEAVE DRUMHOWAN STUD!

AN INTERESTING MOVE FOR PRIMARY, THE SIRE OF GRADE 1 WINNER FIRST FLOW.

It is often the case that a thoroughbred sire will move from covering thoroughbred mares to take up residence in a stud for sport horse mares - bringing that desirable "blood" to competition offspring who are aimed at eventing, show-jumping and showing.
Rarely does it work in the other direction - but now the son of Giant's Causeway, Primary, a fully approved sire for covering sport horse mares has - on the strength of his successful progeny on the track - moved back to the National Hunt sire ranks with a move to Hugh Suffern's Tullyraine Stud near Banbridge in Co. Down. And that move comes with the very best wishes of Gladys and Eamon McArdle, Primary's former owners at Drumhowan Stud at Castleblaney in Co. Monaghan.
In a statement released this evening they say "We wish our good friend Hugh Suffern, and the Tullyraine Stud team much and continued success with Primary. While our emphasis is on the Sport Horse breeding business at Drumhowan, we know Primary has a wonderful new stable and the opportunity to fulfil his TB breeding market."

PRIMARY son wins Grade 1!
The multi-talented thoroughbred stallion Primary may be standing at Drumhowan Stud at Castleblaney for sport horse mares, but he is still getting winners on the track!
His son First Flow was first past the post at Ascot today in the Grade 1 Matchbook Betting Exchange Clarence House Chase.

Primary is Ireland’s unquestionably most exciting TB stallion to become available to Sport Horse Breeders.

MARCH 2017: Fully Approved by HSI. “A big strong TB. stallion...” HSI Inspection Panel March 2017.
